Sammy Ameobi
Younger brother of Newcastle’s very own Shola, Sammy Ameobi is one of the young stars who has recently came through the NUFC academy (guided by Peter Beardsley) into Alan Pardew’s prospective new look squad in preparation for the 2011/2012 season. It is fair to say with only 1 appearance in the first team Sammy is very unproven, but an impressive performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 15th May 2011 has really added a sense of trust between the fans and manager Alan Pardew, as it looks as he can handle the progression of players through youth development. Fans are now very keen to see more NUFC talent shine, from Sammy and other NUFC youngsters.
Strengths
A substitute appearance doesn’t create a whole bio of strengths unfortunately. However in the Chelsea game, Sammy wasn’t afraid to show his pace and creative abilities on and off the ball. Another factor which can be taken from his youth appearances is his goal scoring accolade. Peter Beardsley has recently praised him for this. This kid has a lot to show, and I’m sure you are just as excited as I am to see his career progress.
Weaknesses
I think it is fair to say the one weakness Sammy will hold, just as all debutants do. Is his lack of experience of the fast flowing premiership game. Gaining more appearances and match time will be a catalyst to his improvement, fact.
